Our Therapy Farm

Meet Our Mascot "Hambone"

Dozens of studies have proven that those suffering from tragic loss, depression, anxiety, stress and even PTSD absolutely benefit from interaction with therapy animals.  So, in conjunction with helping our Survivors, we can also help out some deserving animals on our Therapy Farm.  You know what happens when you mix the two???  A whole lot of healing!

Our mascot for SURF HOGS AMERICAN CHARITIES is “Hambone", a 600 pound red wattle hog. He is on the farm along with all of his friends... 12 other pigs rescued from terrible conditions, 4 goats, Dozens of wonderful, loving dogs, cats, chickens, roosters and other animals. They were all thrown away, but are here to help heal those who have lost or suffered .

More Help Where It Is Needed

We will be raising funds as well for the training of some of the unwanted and thrown away animals on the charities rescue farm for them to become productive “therapy” animals. These animals will not only be present on our existing rescue/therapy farm for all to come and visit any time they want, but our volunteers and members have already committed to bringing these therapy animals to our hosted family events, the assisted living and nursing homes, and other locations where their presence can be of a beneficial use.

I have yet to see anyone, from a young child to men and women in their 80’s that have not been smiling and laughing when petting or feeding these wonderful creatures. Many elderly people and others who are not allowed to own an animal where they live, come to the farm just to walk a dog around the property on a leash, or play with them in one of our fenced areas.

Why Is This Important?

Why is the rescue/therapy farm so important to the cause?  These photos will show just a small example of the retired veterans, widows of both veterans and law enforcement, vets who suffer from PTSD, children who lost a parent in service to our country, families who experienced loss due to suicide and many others in need of the therapeutic benefits that this wonderful place provides. The answer to the question of why this rescue /therapy farm is so important, is written of every single face you will experience in the photos. We thank you in advance for your support in keeping this place available for all of those who need it.
